If you want to guarantee an early death for your lawnmower skipping preventative maintenance will do it. You don’t have to be a mechanic to keep it buzzing all summer long. Here are a few tips to help maintain your lawnmower.

  • Read the owner’s manual – It will tell you exactly how to take care of the mower. The maker will tell you exactly how to take care of your mower so that it lasts for years to come.
  • Drain the gasoline – At the end of each mowing session. Old gasoline is one of the suspects when a mower won’t start.
  • Check the oil –  Monitor the oil level in your more and look for debris that might be dark or floating. Old and contaminated oil should be drained and replaced.
  • Clean out the undercarriage – Grass can get caked in the undercarriage and clog the molars discharge chute. Gently use a wire brush to scrape the clippings and dirt from the undercarriage. Always disconnect the spark plug before working around the undercarriage as a safety precaution.
