At some point, we all are going to try to figure out how to unclog a drain. It’s fairly quick and simple and most people can manage to unclog drains on their own.
Here are a few easy ways to fix a clogged drain:
- Pour boiling water down your drain. One of the most efficient and affordable ways to fix the clogged sink is With boiling water. Remove any standing water first and then pour an entire pot or kettle of boiling water directly into the train. Repeat until the clog is cleared.
- Use a plunger to remove debris. This might take some practice and a little patience but a plunger can be another cost-effective solution to fixing clogged sink drains. If you have a double sink basin cover the drain on the side that isn’t caulked. This pressure will help the debris spray up to the other drain.
- Check your garbage disposal for potential clogs. If the pot of hot water or the planter don’t work check your garbage disposal.
- Unclog drains with baking soda and vinegar. Often a sink clog can be remedied with a drain cleaner but you can try homemade drain cleaner like vinegar and baking soda.
- Purchase a drain snake. A drain snake is a simple tool that can be used for dream cleaning. It’s a long flexible metal cable with an auger, or drill on the end for breaking up clogs.
- Clean the sinks P-trap. Most sinks have a P-trap, the curve of the drain pipe that is usually in the cabinet underneath the sink. Place a small bucket under the drain pipe, unfasten the P-trap, clean the interior of the trap and the trap itself. Position it back.
